Bojan was Croatian Optimist champion (2001) and finished 11th at the Laser 4.7 World Championship (Çeşme, 2003) after long being in medal contention. The competitors who brought the club the most renown are the brothers Vedran Grga Ive and Bojan Ive, who started sailing at Zvir and went on to continue their careers at JK Split. Sailing for Croatia, they won the Optimist World Championship team title in 2000 (A Coruña, Spain). Bojan was Croatian Optimist champion in 2001 and 11th at the 2000 Worlds, and at the 1999 European Championship in Greece Vedran finished ninth and Bojan tenth. The older generation deserves a mention too: Dario Nižetić, Nikola Carić, Josipa Komazin, Iva Foretić, Margita Buzolić, Marjam and Tonin Tudor, Janine Vučetić and Zorica Guliemi. Many girls have proved that island women know how to treasure the sea.
As host
A long track record as host: the EurILCA (Laser) Europa Cup rotates between host nations, yet the New Year's Regatta carried it for a remarkably long run of years. The club also hosted the European Laser Masters Championship (2016) and the Croatian Optimist Championship twice (2008 and 2012).
Today
Today's Optimist squad — Antonio Žuvela, Niko and Marta Kovačević and others — is coached by Joško Kovačević (Bepo) and Vedran Grga Ive, and regularly qualifies for national-team selection regattas and medals at home and abroad.
