JK Zvir and the New Year's Regatta continue to enjoy the strong support of our dear sailing friends. Here is a letter we have just received:
Hello to all friends of sailing from J.K. Zvir and to all those who host us every year in the sporting and naturally magnificent setting that is Hvar. In my long sporting career in sailing, visiting many places and race areas, Hvar ranks first in every respect. I think that through many years of coming here and lobbying for Hvar I have made my own modest contribution to the development of the New Year's Regatta in Hvar and to foreign sailors coming here to train. All those who have been to Hvar (parents, sailors ...) gladly return, and they will keep returning regardless of the national team selection system in Croatia. I was one of the initiators of the ranking-list system that we introduced many years ago, and which could have continued to bear the fruit of successful (mathematically fair) selection. I wonder why it was necessary to drastically change the selection system for the Croatian Optimist team — a system that gave us so many great world results in the Optimist and, later, in Olympic and other classes and competitions. Do not give up on organizing the regatta, whatever the coefficients. You have the support of all of us who had to leave to earn our bread elsewhere, but who love sailing and our homeland Croatia. WE WILL KEEP COMING, IN EVER GREATER NUMBERS !!! Valter Kolic
