Getting to Hvar — ferry lines, the Jadrolinija discount for competitors and travel tips for the regatta.
Benefits
When registering for the regatta, group leaders must enter all team members in order to obtain cheaper accommodation and the Jadrolinija discount. Otherwise the full price applies. All participants must confirm their return tickets before travelling back.
Jadrolinija grants a 50% discount on the transport of persons (deck tickets), cars with boats on the roof, trailers, or club boats travelling to the International New Year's Regatta. The discounted crossings apply in the period around the regatta on the following lines:
- Split – Hvar – Split
- Split – Stari Grad – Split
- Drvenik – Sućuraj – Drvenik
Discounted tickets are bought for each direction separately in the port of departure — they are issued only at Jadrolinija offices in Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik and Drvenik.
The organizer, JK Zvir, validates return tickets with a stamp and signature for all regatta participants. Unvalidated return tickets cannot be used — the difference up to the full fare will be charged.
Getting to Hvar
- By car to Split or Drvenik, then by ferry or catamaran to the island
- Stari Grad to Hvar town is a 20-minute drive
- Sućuraj to Hvar town takes about 1 h 30 min by local road
- Dubrovnik to Drvenik is a two-hour drive
- From western Europe: by road from Trieste via Rijeka to Split
- From eastern Europe: by road to Zagreb, then on to Split
