1st Paklena Regatta

- After last year's training regatta with 8 participating boats, this year the first official "Paklena Regatta" through the Pakleni islands will be held, with some 15 cruisers already announced, starting on Saturday 4.11 at 11 a.m.

A word from the organisers
The idea came from a few of us enthusiasts in the town of Hvar who spend the summer months doing "adventure" sailing with tourists in the waters of the Pakleni islands. It is mostly on a daily basis, so we very often meet out at sea, and since the Hvar season lasts a long 6 months, we quite often race each other to make things more interesting for our guests and for ourselves, and to make the time pass better.
The regatta's waters are demanding to sail, but that also makes them interesting for spectators. They are full of islets, rocks, wind shadows, currents and manoeuvres through channels, so smaller, slower boats will also have room to tactically fight for a better position, which makes the regatta quite photogenic and attractive to watch and follow. As last year, it will also be filmed by drones from the air, which, together with livestreaming and a commentator, would make it feel like watching a car race on screen — something we hope to achieve in the coming years, along with regattas in Croatia getting more media coverage.
For precisely these reasons we have arranged several boats from our Hvar boat operators, from which the curious, together with journalists and camera crews, will be able to follow the regatta at several key points.
Two races are planned, starting at 11 a.m., on one of two routes which we will choose on the day of the regatta depending on the wind direction and the current, after which we will have a good time at the premises of Sailing Club "Zvir" and the café bar Eywa in Križna luka. Along with a free dinner (drinks at your own expense) and the prize giving, we will have the honour of attending the presentation of the book "Eldora", presented by the author himself, sea dog and Split sailor Sani Delić, with his friends.
